Puxi Campus Grades 1 to 3: Fire Drill
On March 31st, during PG class, the lower primary section of SHSID conducted another fire drill with the students. Every school year, we conduct two fire drills with the purpose being to prevent anyone from panicking in emergency situations, and evacuate to safe places in a safe and orderly fashion, thus protecting ourselves and avoiding injuries.
As soon as the fire alarm bell rang, the teachers asked the students to stop what they were doing, and each class quickly formed two lines. Everyone put on their masks and covered their mouths and noses and evacuated the primary-school building as quickly as they possibly could by following the designated escaping route. Each emergency exit had a teacher responsible for evacuating the crowd and maintaining discipline. After each grade arrived at its designated safe area, the class teachers counted the number of people. After confirming that all students were present, the first fire drill ended successfully. The students were led by the teachers and returned to their classes.
Every year’s fire drills remind us that, when we encounter an emergency, we should remain calm and evacuate to a safe area. Although the second and third graders have experienced fire drills, they can still follow the teachers’ instructions, setting a good example for the new first graders. This was the second fire drill for first graders in primary school, they behaved even better than last time. They listened to their teachers’ instructions, quietly lined up, and closely followed their classmates one by one. Under the leadership of their homeroom teachers, they also quickly arrived at the safety area. We were so impressed! We believe that, through these fire drills, the students will definitely enhance their awareness of safe evacuation.
