Pudong Campus Grade 2: STEAM Week—Building Creativity
This week in 2nd grade, the students celebrated STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts & Math) Week. All of the second graders had a great time learning about this topic and then taking time to design model tree houses. The project began by creating blueprints of their tree houses, making a plan and design of the process they would follow for their project.
The students were not just tasked with building a stable structure but making it look like a miniature tree house. Many of them struggled at the beginning to find the correct way to design it, but through trial and error, they prevailed and were successful in creating beautiful tree houses.
It was a very stimulating and engaging assignment for them as it challenged the students to think more creatively and find solutions to solve the problem before them.
Furthermore, all materials used for the assignment were brought from their home, so they were also challenged in needing to be creative through their use of resources and ability to build the tree houses. There were many unique designs; the students had a great time working together on this challenging project.
