Grade 9: The Pressure Beauty

In the early morning of March 9th, it seemed like the students were back on the wheels again. The speaker of the day, Emily Lu, came up onto the stage to bring up a significant yet often overlooked subject. It was the pressure beauty brings to society. With this interesting topic, many students laughed at how Disney characters were always portrayed with a beautiful body ratio, but they all knew the seriousness of the issue. Some were shocked by the information of celebrities’ bodies being purposely photoshopped on advertisements to fit the "idea of beauty" better. Emily wanted people to take care of this issue more seriously than they do now. Overall, with the audiences’ reactions, she did an incredible job.
