Grade 9: The Art Festival Auditions

December 10, 2020

On November 29th and December 3rd, the Art Festival auditions were held at the Grand Auditorium during lunch to determine the final roster for performances, as well as to prepare for the coming Art Festival on December 17th. During the auditions, many students, whether as individuals or in small groups, presented their talents, often in the form of dancing or music, ranging from Korean pop music, to pop dancing, to traditional Chinese umbrella dancing. Certain clubs, such as the Modern Dancing Club, participated as well. It was truly gratifying to know that SHSID had so many different and diverse talents in all fields of music and dancing, and to see how passionate they were about the Art Festival.

Many students voluntarily went to watch the auditions held on November 29th and December 3rd. They were clearly passionate as well, as their cheering and clapping made the atmosphere all the more festive. Although somewhat chaotic, the auditions still went relatively smoothly. Edward from 9(1) said, ”I was actually initially quite surprised to see how large the audience was, and how excited they were. However, I soon understood the sentiment, as the performances, even without all the props and fancy light shows provided during the Art Festival, were a wonder to behold.”

The Art Festival preparatory group would like to express their sincere admiration to all those who participated, regardless of whether they are able to advance, as they had all clearly poured all of their efforts into this, and were courageous enough to stand on stage, in front of a large crowd, and perform normally. Regardless of the scores given by the judges, all the performers conducted a near-perfect show, and we greatly look forward to this semester’s Art Festival.
