Grade 9: Assembly - The Love for Physics

December 8, 2020

On the 1st of December, ninth-graders amassed in the basement of Zhentao Building as usual to have an Assembly. The speaker for the day was Ethan Li, and he shared his personal experience and love for physics. He started his anecdote by recalling back to seventh grade when physics was not yet an official school course. Ethan talked about his experience in participating in an engineering and physics extracurricular program called IJSO. He faced difficulties and grew to dislike physics initially. His major turning point was in eighth grade when the school physics course began. He recounted that meeting a good teacher as well as good classmates nurtured his interest in physics. Moreover, Ethan said that participating in BPhO with a group of outstanding and smart peers motivated him. He then extended onto his ninth-grade studies where he further developed his interest by creating PET, a club dedicated to teaching physics. With his personal experience of developing a love for physics, Ethan illustrated the gradual process of finding something one truly loves.
