Middle School Section: WSC: SHSID Dominates Again!

The 2020 Shanghai Regional Round of the World Scholar’s Cup (WSC), held on the 28th and the 29th of November, was hosted by Shanghai Hongqiao International School. SHSID dominated again, just like last year.

The World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) is an international academic program that enhances teamwork, creativity, and speaking skills. With more than 5,000 students participating from over 65 countries every year, it is one of the most popular academic programs globally. WSC challenges its scholars to acquire knowledge not normally taught in schools. To work within teams and find common ground amongst other scholars.

SHSID dominated all three of the Team Debate competitions (trophies are awarded to teams that excelled overall in the debate section showing excellent speaking skills and debate structure). Scholars from SHSID were showered with medals and trophies as the award ceremony proceeded.

SHSID scholars all screamed out loud when all four teams qualified for the next Semi-Global Round—not to mention topping the top 4 ranks! Scholars repeatedly yelled “SHSID DOMINATION” at the top of their lungs, fists were pumped into the air, and tight hugs were exchanged. When the medals and trophies were finally handed out, scholars headed home with necks decorated with numerous medals and arms full of trophies. Each scholar earned valuable experience from this competition and got to feel their school pride more than ever.
