November 25, 2020

On November 19th,11th graders gathered in the Xianmian Annex Auditorium for the morning Assembly. The student speaker for this Assembly was Clarys Vignal from class 11(2) who shared her experiences as a member of the volleyball team.

Joining the school varsity team in 9th grade, Clarys has engaged in this sport for over two years now. Despite her initial view of volleyball as only being a way to have fun, she slowly developed a serious attitude towards the sport as she grew over the years.

Now, in 11th grade, she participates in after-school training three times a week. This posed a huge challenge for Clarys as her academic loads started to pile up when she entered IB. Fortunately, as she fought through this hardship, she was able to refine the important skill of time management.

Being on the school varsity team also meant more than just a challenge to time management. Playing a significant role on the volleyball team, Clarys had learned to collaborate and work with everyone else. Clarys, in her speech, revealed that she found volleyball to be a valuable and enjoyable activity which often also served as a stress reliever.

At the end of her presentation, Clarys addressed the pictures that she put on her slide show. The pictures captured the stress, the hard work, and the joy that volleyball had given her. More importantly, the pictures spoke of talent and the development of some lifelong skills.
