Puxi Campus Grade 1: Chinese Day

November 23, 2020

On Friday, November 20th, the first graders celebrated Chinese Day. It was a day full of joy! All the Chinese teachers in Grade 1 had prepared an activity of hunting for Chinese characters on campus.

For Chinese Day, students and teachers came to school dressed in traditional Chinese clothes. For Friday's Chinese class, students worked in groups as they looked for Chinese characters on campus. One student took a picture of the Chinese characters on an iPad, while another recorded the Chinese characters on a task card. After searching the campus, they went back to the classroom to arrange the Chinese characters they found and share their photos. Finally, each student chose one Chinese character and went home to complete a Chinese character card and add color to it. Through this activity, the children found the Chinese characters and their origins all around them. Chinese Day allowed students to explore Chinese characters and learn more!
