Grade 8: Gazette Service Learning Group—Sale for Charity

The Service Learning Program encourages students to do service for others and then reflect on their experiences. This year, apart from the online charity concerts and the Sunshine Service Group activities, the Gazette Group charity event is another creative idea to raise money for people in need.

If you have visited Zhentao Building in the past week, you might come across Gazette Group. The semester’s very first issue of SHSID Gazette was on sale. It was a huge success, with all proceeds going to charity!

150 printed copies were sold out with almost 1500 rmb having been earned in profits. Many students found the articles interesting and are looking forward to buying the next issue. The Gazette Service Learning Group was able to reach out to their peers or teachers during lunch time.

Despite the huge success, the group discerned some problems and thought up ways to create an even better issue next time. “Some students said that the cover page was not appealing enough, while others said that the content should be more organized. This was a wonderful learning experience for us all,” said a Gazette member during the reflection meeting of Nov. 19th. Donation plans are also discussed on the meeting.

All in all, this group is exceptionally proud of the first sale of the year. They are looking to improve the content to create an even better issue in the future!
