Grade 8: The Final Round of the English Storytelling Competition
During week 12, the eighth-grade students of SHSID participated in an English storytelling competition. All students participated in the first round prior to midterms, and select few progressed through the tense second round on the road to the final! There were six storytellers from S to H+ level that were all divided into groups to compete against each other. This time, the finalists brought a lot of astonishing and surprising stories.
S/S+
The S and S+ finalist wrote amazing stories that took us into the depths of the suspense and horror genre. 8(4)’s Ruogu told a story about a girl being bullied who was bullied at school before she met two ghosts. The ghosts wanted to assist the girl in seeking avengeance, so they embarked together on the journey of revenge.
H/H+
The H and H+ finalists incorporated suspense and mystery into their stories. 8(6)’s Cecilia wrote her horror story about an old pianist that lived in a big house with his wife before she suddenly died. Because of the death of his wife, the pianist contemplated the funeral music to commemorate his wife. Later, he died in his sadness. Ten years afterward, a young man moved into the house. Every night, he could hear sad piano sound. Why would that happen? The story of 8(10)’s Ashlyn described a person who is very poor and then bought an embryo to make a wish for wealth. However, he has to pay back what he owes for what he received. What will happen next?
In summary, the winner of S/S+ was Daniel Zhu from 8(6). Ruogu from 8(4) won the second prize and Emily Chow from 8(9) won the third prize. The winner of H/H+ was 8(10) Ashlyn. 8(6) Cecilia won the second prize and 8(2) Christine won the third Prize. There was also a lucky draw for the audience. And Cecilia Lien from 8(6) won the most votes on the LC plarform for “the most popular storyteller” last week.
After the storytelling competition, the audience also appreciated the students’ excellent English PBA work. We can’t wait to see the movies based on these great stories.
