Pudong Campus Grades 1–3: Happy Mid-Autumn Festival

September 30, 2020

Autumn is upon us now, with the wind blowing and the leaves falling. One of the most important festivals in China, the Mid-Autumn Festival, has arrived. On September 30th, 2020, grades one to three students at the SHSID Pudong campus celebrated this grand, traditional festival together during their Personal Growth classes. In class, teachers introduced the history and traditional customs of the Mid-Autumn Festival, customs such as appreciating the full moon, eating mooncakes, enjoying family reunions, etc. Students were further interested in traditional Chinese culture after learning about the myths and legends behind the festival. Later, students tried to make small pendants for the Mid-Autumn Festival while enjoying the sound of Chinese folk songs at the same time.

This activity not only deepened the students’ understanding of traditional Chinese festivals and the charms of traditional Chinese culture, but it also allowed students to jointly experience happiness with each other. By learning more about this festival, students are becoming global citizens through cultivating their cultural awareness.
