Pudong Campus: Fire Drill

At 3:10p.m. on September 24th, the firealarm wassuddenlysoundedon SHSID Pudong campus. The hallwayswereinstantlypermeated with thick fog and smoke. An unpleasant smellfilledthe air.The teachers and students fromthe1stgrade to 5thgradehadnoideaaboutwhatwashappeningwhiletheywerehaving 7thperiodindifferentclassrooms. However, they reacted without hesitation: familiar with emergency procedures,the teachers led the students to line up and trot out of the classroomswith orderand speed.Theirmouths and nosescovered,everyonegotdownlowandexitedtheclassrooms. With the help ofevacuationroutes, whichremain permanentlypastedon thewalls, teachers and students got outside of the building successfullyandpromptlyassembled at thesafetyspot.

In reality there was no fire, instead a fire drill of which the teachers and students were not given prior warning. During this fire drill, the whole school avoided injury and only took 4 minute 12 seconds to evacuate from the building! We don’t expect a real fire to break out on campus. The entire faculty of SHSID Pudong division will do their best to prevent and respond safely to any possible emergency situation.
