Grades 11-12: ASB Elections

September 21, 2020

On September 16th, juniors and seniors held the annual ASB elections in the XMT Annex Auditorium. The entire event was broken into two parts: the speeches and the talent performances.

Since it was the last chance for seniors to be an ASB member, the candidates as well as the audience were enthusiastic. For the juniors, it was a fresh opportunity. Though there were technical difficulties as the election began, the candidates managed and made the best out of the situation, which, in a sense, showed their flexibility and originality. Each candidate waited patiently before the podium, and yet there was no trace of panic on their faces. When it was their turn, they started off confidently and dived into their unique and distinctive speeches. Finishing with loud applauses from the students, the candidates felt even more confident and excited.

After each candidate finished his/her inspiring speeches, it was time for the performances. These performances featured a diverse series of talents including dancing, singing, making bubble tea, and a spectacular magic show that left the audience amazed. Each performance revealed the unique, personal character of the candidate, giving the students more insight into who they would be electing for this year’s ASB. The atmosphere in Annex changed from a serious yet inspiring tone to a playful and energetic one, with the applause from the audience echoing through the entire hall.
