Grade 8: Joining Fascinating Clubs

It's a new semesterandit’s timeagainfor the annual SHSID club registration!

The diverse clubs of SHSID have always been one of the school’s many highlights. In 8th grade, there are four categories of clubs: music and art clubs, sports clubs, creative clubs, and “x-clubs”. In the music and art category, one of the most welcomed clubs is the a cappella club. The unique stage presentations combined with pure vocal performances always amazes audiences. The swimming club from the sports category never fails to impress during the annual swimming competition; the numerous hours spent training in the pool are usually rewarded with all kinds of medals at various tournaments. While these two categories of clubs focus mainly on the students’ physical abilities and talents, the other two categories focus more on expression and building up students’ knowledge as global citizens. For example, the OM club (Odyssey of the Mind) is one of the creative clubs and MUN (Model United Nations) is one of the “x-clubs”. In these two clubs, students are guided by teachers to express their thoughts either upon one particular question or society at large in different competitions.

These are just a few examples of SHSID’s diverse and exciting campus activities. There are many more fascinating clubs for students to explore. Joining clubs grants students opportunities to earn honor for the school, to improve their mental and physical capabilities, and to enrich their lives after school. With such wonderful benefits, how could anyone resist these wonderful SHSID clubs?
