Grade 10: Sharing about Learning and Life

April 15, 2020

Jane is a student from class 10(10), she shared her learning and life for Week 6. Like many others, she hasn’t been able to go anywhere in the past few months. During her time staying at home, Jane made a long list of things she is going to do and also spent more time together with her family.

The to-do list Jane made is separated into two main categories: academics and art. First and foremost, she needs to ensure that she can keep up with her academics despite not being able to go to school. After considering which subjects she needs more work on, Jane decided to put more effort into chemistry and economics so that she won’t lag behind when the new semester starts. Moreover, Jane decided to preview A-level economics as she is likely going to take this course in the future.

Secondly, Jane decided to devote a large portion of her time into studying art. Over the past few months, she drew a number of works with acrylic, micron, markers, and other artistic mediums. Recently, Jane also developed the habit of filming her drawing process so that she could review it from time to time. She also made plans to create a short film and also study art history during the break. Art has always played a very important role in Jane’s life, both as a talent and a hobby, and she is willing to devote more time and effort to creating and studying artwork.

Apart from academics and art, Jane also spent her leisure time in a number of ways. She tried cooking, which she rarely did in the past in fear of blowing up the kitchen. Jane attempted to bake chiffon cakes, cookies, and puddings as well as make egg dumplings and Kimchi fried rice. Most of them turned out to be quite successful.

Jane also spent more time with her family than she normally did during previous winter breaks, as normally there would be tons of lessons and other activities during the winter break. She watched movies with her parents, and they cooked meals together. She also played with her family’s pet dog.

This extended winter holiday is undoubtedly one of the most unique periods of time in most people’s lives, as the plans and routines of many have been quite mixed up. In order to keep calm and achieve the most in this special time period, one should manage their time wisely by keeping a balance between their academic study and their leisure time.
