Middle School: Charity Fair
On Thursday, November 21, 2019, SHSID Middle School held its semi-annual Charity Fair. This year at the Charity Fair, sixth, seventh and eighth grade students mustered their strength to lug their heavy loads of goods to the Local Cafeteria and the First Sodexo Cafeteria. Others came with huge bags, ready to shop. As students arrived at the cafeterias and began to set up their booths, crowds began to form. There were booths selling second-hand books, booths selling ice-cream and cotton candy, and much, much more—everyone seemed to have a second stomach for charity.

Six girls from class 6(4)—Sophia, Eleanor, Chelsea, Winnie, Sally, Charlene and Gabrielle—sold stationery, sweets, bookmarks and a mix of other goods. Gabrielle’s mother, who also participated in the fair, described her items disappearing at a manic rate and the charity fair coupons forming a wobbling stack at the booth. “This has to be the busiest Charity Fair I’ve ever seen!” She said. It was truly a meaningful afternoon for the entire Middle School; everything that was made and spent would be donated in the school’s name to people who need it. This all-time favorite event allows students to purchase items while making donations. Already, students can’t wait for next semester’s fair.
