Grade 9 Assembly: An Introduction to Writing Center at SHSID

On the chilly Tuesday morning of November 19th, students and teachers gathered in the B1 lecture hall of Zhentao Building for the assembly. Ms. Wu came up first to inform the students about the release of midterm grades and how students could access their record on the SHSID portal website, then Ms. Gordon took the floor to address the main topic of this assembly – the Student Writing Center.

Ms. Gordon spoke about how ninth and tenth graders rarely take full advantage of the resources available to them at the Writing Center because they are usually not very familiar with how the system works. However, there are teachers very willing to help proofread pieces of writing from any high schoolers, so students should not be afraid to approach them for help. To introduce more people to the concept of the Writing Center, a Student Writing Center Workshop will be held on the 20th in the Xianmian Building, covering subject-verb agreement and how to properly utilize it in English composition. After the fascinating things brought up during this assembly, everybody is excited to see what events next week’s meeting will bring.
