Grade 9 Assembly: Personal Growth Program

November 18, 2019

On November 12th, students from 9th grade gathered for an assembly. This time, however, they did not listen to a presentation given by one of their classmates. Instead, this week’s assembly was for the monthly personal growth program check-in.

The check-in was based on the theme of time. How has time changed us? How did high school life change us? What did getting through the first two months of high school and sitting through the first exam of high school feel like? The teacher in charge of the personal growth program then introduced a fun game. All students were supposed to write a letter to their September selves. The letter will then be sent in a time machine to their September selves. The students were all lamenting about high school stress while enthusiastically writing about the cool friends and teachers they met. Students enjoyed this imaginary opportunity and it was an effective personal growth reflection. Through this activity, the students generated ideas for future personal growth projects and learned the importance of self-reflection.
