Grade 4-5: Core Value - Respect
Grades 4-5 of SHSID have started the month of November by focusing on our “GROW” initiative. In October, the emphasis was on “Growth-Mindset”, and for this month, the students will be concentrating on “Respect”.
We began by having an assembly on October 31stthat highlighted the importance of respect. Ms. Nicole did a fantastic job energizing the students and teaching them the importance of this character trait. After the assembly, the students felt prepared to show respect not only to their peers, but also to themselves.
After the assembly, the students learnt more about respect in their classrooms during Personal Growth class with their teachers. Many of the students were asked thought-provoking questions that allowed them to engage with their classmates on a variety of subjects. They were asked how to show respect in their school, homes, and with their peers and classmates.
The teachers challenged the students and led them through very interesting and encouraging lessons and conversations about respect. This allowed the students to take time to think about this important topic and to ask questions of their own.
Grades 4-5 will be spending all of November on this very fun and enjoyable topic.
