Grade 11: MFP Autumn Charity Concert

November 6, 2019

Autumn is the season of harvest. On the afternoon of October 18, 2019, the first MFP Club charity concert of the semester was held in the lobby of the former outpatient building of Shanghai Children's Medical Center (SCMC).

Before the concert, some club members visited the SCMC Children's Cardiovascular Center and listened to an introduction and mini lecture about the complex utensils used in cardiovascular surgery and the fascinating recapitulation of achievements by Dr. Hu Renjie, a resident doctor of cardiothoracic surgery and Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee of SCMC. The members then visited the hospitalized children at the cardiovascular center with carefully prepared gifts. Three students, Grace Xu, Antony Ho and Tim Lin also entered the ICU ward and played a violin repertoire for the critically ill children and medical staff.

After the new semester started earlier in September, Kingsley Poon, Barbie Xu, Jonathan Hua, Grace Xu, Sharon Yin, Connie Lin and Antony Ho—the core members of the MFP club—started planning and preparing for this concert, striving to present a more creative and innovative charity concert for the sick children and their families as well as the medical staff at SCMC. The concert consisted of new piano, string and orchestral repertoires, programs from the trombone and bassoon tube ensemble, and a performance from the Voice From Beyond singing group from the junior high school as well as the BTSC dance group from the senior high school, which debuted for the first time. The grand total of 19 different styles of programs won full house applause.

Dr. Ji Qingying, Secretary of the Party Committee of SCMC, and Mr. Shao Mingxiang, Secretary General of Shanghai High School Alumni Foundation, attended the concert and delivered enthusiastic speeches, encouraging students to study hard and make continuous efforts to become a generation that will make great contributions to society in the future.
