Science Fair: Lectures
On Thursday, October 30, students from the high school gathered in the Zhentao Building for the intriguing Science Fair. The Science Fair officially started at 12:20 with a lecture on fighting crime using computers and data. Afterwards, specialists in the fields of chemistry, biology, and physics from different universities held thirteen lectures covering a variety of topics for students who were interested in these specific areas of knowledge.
There were lectures about evolution and extinction, psychology, first aid, genetics, biology, and many other interesting themes belonging to the immense realm of science. Each topic was explained in detail, which gave students a broader perspective of the planet they live on as well as the entire universe. The Science Fair not only provided educational lectures, but also included a large variety of experimental activities. Different activities took place in the first-floor lobby and the second floor of the building, each of which was related to a different scientific field. There were games such as Heads Up, in which two students must cooperate to win prizes, and lots of simple experiments that exhibit chemical changes or natural phenomena on Earth. Overall, the students behaved excellently throughout their participation in the activity, and everyone obtained a wider view of the world in which we live in.
