Grade1-3: Celebrating Halloween
As the end of this month draws near, Grade 1-3 from Puxi campus launched its long-awaited Halloween carnival. In the western world, Halloween is a traditional holiday. Each year, on October 31st , children dress up as themselves in a variety of costumes and go “trick or treating.” As one of the most popular festivals at SHSID, Halloween was celebrated with exciting activities and unforgettable moments.
In the morning, all the children were dressed up as different characters such as superheroes from the Justice League, cherry princesses, fearsome clowns, noble snow queens and a variety of other memorable characters. The students’ efforts, along with the preparation and dedication of the Primary Section teachers, made for an incredibly unique experience.
Furthermore, it was just not the way the students came dressed up, but the originality and creativity they carried in today’s special event. Some decorated the doors with pumpkins and ghosts, cultivating and demonstrating their hands-on capabilities; some hid subtle but important clues in the classroom corners for others to discover and use to escape from the haunted house; some watched videos, read picture books, and sang Halloween songs; some students even used iPads to learn more about Halloween, design posters and learn from the role play games. But above all, the most intriguing and exciting moment was when the students went trick or treating. As the bell rang, the students swarmed into their assigned destinations, with laughter permeating the hallways.
The children were brave, bold, and creative to this Halloween holiday. They got to experience the spooky atmosphere, various treats, and an exposure to western culture.
