Student Won “Best Creativity” in ICS “My Favorite Shanghai”

In the summer of 2019, The International Channel Shanghai (ICS) launched "My Favorite Shanghai", an English short video competition inviting students to show the unique charm of Shanghai through a lens. On October 20th, the award ceremony of "My Favorite Shanghai " was held at Shanghai TV Station. A total of 26 Chinese and foreign families, and representatives of 18 schools, were invited to attend the award ceremony. Song Jiongming, deputy director of Shanghai TV station and director of SMG News, attended and delivered the welcome speech.

The video clip of “the world's top musical performance is within five kilometers of Shanghai” planned, filmed and produced by Joshua Sprafkin, who is from class 4 (2) of SHSID, stood out from more than 1000 video submissions, and was awarded "Best Creativity" by judges from TV stations and international schools.

Joshua said, “At the end of June, my mother showed me the information of this competition. I just saw three great musicals in Shanghai, so the first reason I thought of ‘My Favorite Shanghai’ was that almost every week, within 5 kilometers of the center of Shanghai, I could enjoy the top concerts or musicals. It was a surprise for me to be invited to the TV station and awarded "Best Creativity" after more than three months. I would like to give thanks to SHSID, where I practiced the skills of doing projects and using iMovie. I'm very happy to make the videos people like.”

The video was the best explanation of Joshua’s love for musicals and Shanghai this summer.
