Pudong Campus:A Field Trip to Ocean Park
On October 24th, 2019, students at SHSID Pudong campus headed to Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park for a thrilling fieldtrip. Early in the morning, the students all came to school filled with sheer excitement. Thanks to the beautiful weather, this popular tourist destination made for intensive outdoor exploration.
After nearly an hour of traveling, the students arrived with great enthusiasm. In front of them, there was a spacious park located next to the famous Dripping Lake. Students then grouped themselves into class units and scattered across the park to immerse themselves in the activities available.
As the first graders were having fun in the Snow Plaza, watching the 4D movie, “Polar Adventure”, grade two students experienced up-close interactions with seals and dolphins in the Sea Mammal Habitats. In the Underwater World, third graders encountered many rare species of fish, corals, and invertebrates and were astonished by the amazing deep-sea view comprising a great diversity of marine life. Of all the ocean life at the park, the penguin exhibit was probably the students’ favorite. When our lucky grade four students came to the penguin habitat, they received an extraordinary welcome from these adorable birds. In the meantime, some fifth graders took a rest in another corner of the park, enjoying their scrumptious homemade lunches.
When departure time came, students expressed their desire to extend their field trip. During the visit, everyone was amazed by the diversity of the exotic species of marine animals at the park. This wonderful field trip granted us the perfect opportunity to engage in natural inquiry and outdoor relaxation.
