Grade 9-10：Students Visit Changqiao Nursing Home

On Monday, October 21, about twenty students from both ninth and tenth grades gathered in a school bus and went on their journey to Changqiao Nursing Home, a home for the elderly. Upon arrival, the managers divided the students into two groups and provided them with two packages; there were towels and snacks in these packages. The students’ mission was to distribute the daily accessories to every resident’s room. Students knocked on the doors and greeted the people, delivering the accessories at the same time. The elderly welcomed the volunteers wholeheartedly; meanwhile, the students had some interactions and brief conversations with the elderly, and the smiles on their faces were so heartwarming. Even though the activity lasted for just a little over half an hour, students gained a lot of insight into the lives of people who are different than themselves. Through participating in these activities, students began to feel a sense of responsibility and gained extraordinary experience as well. The community service allowed students to feel their worth in society and gave them an opportunity to experience the happiness they receive through serving others.
