October 21, 2019

Open Classes

During week 7 in the High School English department, teachers observed departmental open classes. Seven members of the department volunteered to have their English classes observed with every English teacher signing up to watch one of these classes. Teachers used this as an opportunity to learn from their coworkers and enhance their pedagogy.

PD Workshop

Teachers took part in AP and IB workshops on October 18th for professional development. The workshops were led by current AP and IB teachers. They focused on informing grade 9 and 10 teachers of the competencies students require to excel in these advanced courses and also explained assessment procedures. We hope this will aid students’ future success and make them more informed when they choose academic programs.

Upcoming Events

The English department has been preparing for the upcoming writing and speech competitions. Students are working hard on their entries, hoping to compete in SHSID's Storyteller of the Year contest. We hope it will be an exciting and competitive event.
