High School Economics Department: Professional Development Day

October 18th was a professional development day for SHSID teachers. The teachers in the Economics Department gathered together for a PD seminar in the afternoon. In the beginning, teachers from different courses talked about student performance in their classes. Then, each of the teachers shared the class activities and projects that had either been assigned or would be in the future. They also engaged in a debate on how to best lead a successful case analysis class in terms of teaching methods and time arrangement. After that, all the teachers discussed the teaching contents after the mid-term exam. They watched a demo of a class activity together and discussed how to integrate such activities into their own classes in order to help students enhance application skills through activities and simulations. In addition, Business Management teachers provided suggestions and teaching materials for Economics teachers regarding the business-related contents in the syllabus. During the seminar, all the teachers worked together and shared opinions freely, aiming to better achieve teaching objectives and further improve students’ learning experiences.
