SHSID Middle School:Sports Meet March-in Performance

October 14, 2019

The autumn air was cool and refreshing. A soft breeze blew in the air as a scent of honey was carried by. The teachers and students of Shanghai High School International Division ushered in the annual Sports Meet on October 14. On this bright and sunny morning, the march-in performance marked the prelude of the sports meet.

Each class was well prepared for the different topics assigned previously. The 7th graders’ performances were based on Marvel characters. The famous Avengers appeared in front of us again, including the Hulk, Iron Man, and Captain America. Each class’s representative wore a superhero costume and acted like they were fighting enemies. The students in 7(4) performed Black Panther’s trick of fighting a group of people. Our classmates regarded the field as a big stage, and the entertaining performance along with the heroic plot ended with roaring applause. The eighth grade seniors represented the cities that the Olympics were held in: Athens, the city in which fire was invented; Barcelona, the city that has magnificent architecture; London, the city with strong aristocratic flavor. Of course, the host city of the 2008 Olympic Games, Beijing, was indispensable. The ingenious torch relay symbolized the incessant fire of the movement, making the whole entrance performance more ritualistic.

Next came speeches by the student representative, the principal, and the director. Principal Liu and Director Shen gave energetic speeches that boosted our confidence. It was then time for the teachers’ performance. Both male and female teachers performed extraordinarily in front of all the students. Instead of being the serious and responsible leaders in the classrooms, they turned into amazing dancers. The male teachers vigorously waved red flags while the female teachers waved blue and white flags in a uniform manner, which combined strength with elegance. The dances of the Chinese and foreign teachers blended Eastern and Western cultures, fully embodying classical and modern. The wonderful flagship performances of the teachers fully demonstrated the spirit of fighting tenaciously.
