SHSID Middle School:Sports Meet Competition Events
After the brief but enthusiastic march-in performances, the SHSID Sports Meet of the 7thand 8thgrade officially began. Every year, there are various types of activities in the Sports Meet, and this year was no exception. There was a high jump, long jump, and shot put in the field events. Track events included running of various distances, and one inspiring story:

The 800m race was in full swing. All competitors were in deep concentration, trying their best to reach the finish line first. Suddenly, a boy on the track slowed down his steps. He leaned forward and panted hard. The students in the stands couldn’t help but feel anxious. They didn’t know if he would be able to finish the entire race. Just at that moment, an encouraging chant sounded from the stands. Then, more and more cheers joined the crowd. Soon, the shouts and chants rang throughout the whole field. The cheers from the crowd seemed to give the boy infinite strength. He adjusted his breathing pattern and soon enough, was jogging towards the finish line. Even though he was far behind the other runners, when he crossed the finish line, he received the warmest applause of the day.

There were many scenes of dedication and determination in the Sports Meet. Even if students fell or got injured, they all won the praise and applause of all students. None of the competitors were professional athletes, but their sportsmanship was equally fair and just. Compared with the final result, the journey was more important. Speeding ahead and never giving up is not only the essence of sports, but also the motto that every student should always remember.
