High School Chinese Department: SHS’s Third Bilingual Debate Competition

September 29, 2019

On September 25th, the preliminary round of the third bilingual debate competition was held.

The topic of the first Preliminary Round was “should unpaid internships be banned?” Those in favor of the motion suggested unpaid internships would lead to economic pressure for poor students, while those against the motion said internships were different from part-time jobs. The debaters’ excellent English and Chinese abilities, logical thinking and good manners impressed all the Chinese and foreign judges.

The bilingual debate competition will hold further rounds later in the semester, and it is hoped that the students taking part will continue to develop throughout the competition.
