Grade 6-8: Clubs Introduction
During the Youth Development classes on September 5th, students from grades 6, 7, and 8 gathered at the grand auditorium to get the latest information about extracurricular activities. These activities included sports and clubs led by music teacher Ms. Xiao Qian, Chinese teacher Ms. Liu Qiong, and teachers from grades 6, 7, and 8.
The clubs have always been excellent opportunities for students to have fun with friends and learn new skills they cannot learn in standard classes. This year, the students were very excited to watch the introduction of these activities, especially because of the addition of several new opportunities!
One by one, the teachers came to the stage to tell the students all about the clubs, each presentation more fascinating than the last. There are still many of the original classic clubs such as Model UN, the World Scholars Cup, International History Bowl, Debate Club, Games Club, and Soccer Club. These have always been popular with the students. However, the new clubs Destination Imagination and History of Film received many cheers from the students. The Kendama club really attracted the students, too, for they were all longing to try out the Japanese cup-and-ball skill toy. The Public Speaking Club and Latin club are also highly sought after by the students. To find out more, students can check out the club introduction and register through the Linked Classroom platform. The World Scholars Cup sign-up is handled through in-person tryouts.
The introduction of these exciting clubs signals a fresh start to the new semester. They are excellent opportunities that offer students and teachers in the middle school another fruitful school year!
