Grade 10: Assembly -- Sophomore Project

September 5, 2019

On September 4th, the tenth graders gathered in the ZhenTao Building’s lecture hall for the first assembly of the 2019-2020 school year.

First, SHSID Times Editor-in-Chief, Lelan, briefly introduced the official school magazine and announced the positions they are recruiting for. Then, Mr. Slonim spoke about the Sophomore Project. To begin the project, students will have to organize themselves into groups of six to eight and utilise their knowledge from a multitude of subjects to tackle a specific problem. Each group will be assigned an instructor, and students will be given the opportunity to communicate with their mentors about the project throughout the school year. After the introduction, attending students understood the significance of the Sophomore Project and began to think about the topics they wanted to explore.

The assembly not only introduced the diversity of activities available to Grade 10 students, but also encouraged them to participate from the very start of the new academic year. Hopefully, sophomores will be able to attend a variety of different extracurricular activities to successfully pinpoint their interests in the upcoming school year!
