Grade 9 and 10: Opening Ceremony

On the morning of September 2nd, 2019, teachers and students of Grade 9 and 10 gathered together in the auditorium for the opening ceremony of the 2019-2020 academic year.

The opening ceremony began with a speech given by High School Vice Principal, Ms. Liu Min. She introduced the new ZhenTao building, and invited students to consider the meaning of ZhenTao: to harness the essential qualities of Eastern and Western culture, to employ the essence of heaven and earth, and to cultivate elite talents. Following this, everyone watched an exciting video, which recorded the wonderful activities and remarkable achievements of the past year. Principal Ma then warmly welcomed the students back to campus. After reviewing the excellent results from the past year, Principal Ma mentioned the high expectations he had for the students in the new semester. Then, speeches were made by the head of Grade 10, Ms. Yu Zhen and Head of Grade 9, Ms. Wu Chen. After a brief overview of Grade 10, Ms. Yu gave a speech on academic work, activity, and character. She encouraged students to take the initiative to use resources, seek opportunities, and realize self-development and growth in the new academic year. In addition to welcoming the 9th graders into high school with the SHSID Launch Lesson, Ms. Wu also asked that every student have a fresh outlook on their new journey and strive to create self-value. From middle school to high school, many changes occur, so Ms. Wu stressed that planning and reflection are important for a promising high school life. Lastly, the outstanding student representatives’ speeches really inspired the entire audience.

In the past, students have benefited greatly from the school's advanced curriculum and extracurricular activities. A number of outstanding students were presented with Social Activity Awards, Academic Achievement Awards, and Principal List Awards. All of these are recognition of the students’ dedication throughout the previous year. It also shows a direction for other students to move towards.

SHSID saw innumerable achievements in the 2018 academic year and is full of expectation for the new 2019 academic year. We hope every student can gain more knowledge and happiness in the new academic year!
