2019 Foreign Teachers Summer Orientation

On August 23rd, 2019, with the efforts and coordinative work of the Foreign Affairs Office, the foreign teachers arrived safely, settled comfortably, and are fully prepared to start the 2019 Summer Orientation and another excellent year of academics.

A thorough week-long orientation for the foreign teachers helped inform everyone about living and teaching at SHSID. Teachers who are new to living in China also learned about what they could expect from living in Shanghai. The FAO arranged for educational meetings about Chinese culture and living, SHSID academic expectations, proper use of technology and facilities, and lesson planning with returning teachers.

Returning teachers joined their new colleagues on August 26th for introductions and ice breakers. This lively session was followed by thought provoking speeches made by Principal Ma and Principal Liu, who informed the teachers of the ever-evolving knowledge, competencies, and skills required of modern students as well as SHSID’s forward thinking approach to the shifting nature of education in the age of technology.

After a full week of preparatory meetings and seminars, both new and returning foreign teachers are abundantly prepared to begin the fall semester, all looking forward to another wonderful year at SHSID!
