History and Geography Department Meeting

August 29, 2019

On the afternoon of August 27th, all the history and geography teachers from Primary, Middle and High School met in the recording room of the Zhen Tao Building to have the first department meeting of the new semester. Firstly, Ms. Li Yunuo, the department leader, began by giving a warm welcome to the new teachers. She then briefly introduced the configuration of the department and outlined some challenges to overcome during the new semester. She also showed a flow chart of writing evaluation criteria for different grades, which was completed via group work at the end of the last semester. Ms. Li expressed her confidence in all the teachers present as well as her high expectations for the coming semester.

Mr. Christopher Hodachok, on behalf of the high school part of the Department, gave an overview of regular tasks, which include the proofreading and scanning of the midterm and final exams. He then went over the standard for the assessment of students’ work. Next, he emphatically introduced the term score breakdown and the teachers present provided wonderful ideas and shared plans that they used for their class before. Mr. Hodachok also reminded the teachers to make an effort to understand students who may be having a tough time due to various hardships in life so that the teaching can be effective.
