Good News

SHSID educational activity curriculum (represented by the ‘tree’ model), academic curriculum (represented by the ‘human’ model), and the ‘Four Pillars’ work in unison to contribute to the personal and lifelong development of every SHSID student. At SHSID, we are constantly aspiring to reach new heights on the basis of 25 years of achievements. In the past few days, the continuous release of 2019 exam results for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) and for the Advanced Placement Program (AP), have brought to teachers and students alike a pleasant and joyful summer surprise.
This year, SHSID’s IBDP exam results continued a stellar trend. Nearly half of the IBDP students took double A courses (i.e. simultaneously selecting two native language courses).Over 70% of the IBDP students received a bilingual diploma, and 100% of the IBDP students were successfully awarded an IB diploma. It is well known that an IB bilingual diploma is a very commendable achievement, especially because of the challenging nature of taking double native language courses. These remarkable results are thanks to SHSID’s constant support towards students who aspire to learn two native languages and its special dedication to Chinese language and literature. Additionally, this year, SHSID has had several students obtain a full score, and over 90% of the IB students received a score of 40 and above. The average score this year is higher than that of last year.
At the same time, AP exam results have also brought good news. This year, SHSID students completed nearly 800 AP exams. These exams were sat on campus and covered a total of approximately 26 different subject tests. Over 90% of students received an excellent grade of 4 or higher. SHSID offers a diverse, interdisciplinary range of AP courses, which includes: languages, literature, social sciences, math, natural sciences, the arts and more, satisfying each and every student’s academic interests and personal needs.
In August, the announcing of A-LEVEL exam results will undoubtedly be just as extraordinary.
The school wholeheartedly congratulates this year’s IB, AP, and A-LEVEL students for their excellent achievements and would like to especially thank all of the teachers at SHSID for their tireless devotion and commitment! The school firmly believes that by offering three globally-recognized international programs, it can not only help students build a strong academic foundation, but also ensure that students can continue to succeed in their lifelong academic and personal development.
With the advent of summer, the joy of summer life is beginning to bloom. The ‘Go China’ Program and DOE Adventurous Journey are coming to a close and summer credit-courses, taught by US professors from prestigious universities right here on SHSID’s campus, are halfway to completion. The five students of SHSID’s Beyond Borders Program, under the guidance of their teachers, have already advanced to a top science & technology summer camp where they will meet Nobel Prize winners. Many students are already assiduously preparing for all kinds of international academic competitions all around the globe and the Harvard Youth Leadership Summit at SHSID’s campus is ready to commence in August. Along with these reports of good news, the school wishes each and every SHSID student a safe, happy, and fruitful summer!
We wish all students and teachers a delightful summer break!
