The 2019 Shanghai Primary and Secondary School Badminton Championship

The 2019 Shanghai Primary and Secondary School Badminton Championship was hosted on June 22nd and 23rd at Minhang Sports Park. The championship was open to all primary and secondary schools in Shanghai and was split into four divisions: Pudong Division, Minhang Division, Baoshan Division, Putuo Division. From the local round to the final round, over 1500 students from across the city competed. Within each local division, the top four in the singles bracket and top three in the team bracket qualified for the final round. SHSID's teams successfully qualified as the middle school girl's team earned 3rd place, and the middle school boy's team and high school girl's team took 1st place.

In the final round, SHSID's teams faced many challenges on the courts. The matches were extended from one round to three rounds, challenging the skill and stamina of each of our athletes. Unfortunately, the middle school teams were missing a few team members, and even though they tried their best, they did not break through the elimination round. While the high school girl's team did not make it though the elimination round last year, another year of hard work and effort paid off, allowing them to win 1st place! The 2019 Shanghai Badminton Championship marks a milestone for the SHSID Badminton varsity team. May they continue to improve and break records in the years to come!
