Academic Lecture on Investment banking

During the lunch break on May 30th, SHSID had the honor of hosting an academic lecture given by Mr. Zhou Wei, an expert from the investment banking department of Guotai Junan Securities. Mr. Zhou began his lecture with a picture of two world famous investment giants in their early days—Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger. He then introduced the top 5 famous investment banks in the overseas and Chinese markets as well as their main functions. After that, Mr. Zhou introduced more details about IPO (initial public offering) and MA (merger and acquisition) with the support of rich data from professional databases, which really broadened the young students’ knowledge of investment banking. Finally, Mr. Zhou shared the most recent development of the Shanghai Stock Exchange: the Science and Technology Innovation Board. Before the lecture ended, he encouraged the young students to learn more knowledge at school and take part in extracurricular activities to improve their overall qualities and thus lay a solid foundation for their future careers.

SHSID currently offers various Economics and Business courses in high school, including Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Business Management and Accounting. Beyond this, the school also helps the students learn more knowledge in different fields by offering academic lectures as well as other similar academic events, aiming to satisfy their diversified interests as much as possible.
