Members of the Student Academy of Science Became Science Teachers!

May 30, 2019

Why do knuckles pop? Although this sounds like an easy question, most people don't know the answer. During recess time on May 29th and 30th, several seven and eighth grade students from the Student Academy of Science at SHSID came to teach our first-grade students about body joints, and more specifically about why our knuckles can pop. The seventh and eighth grade students spent a lot of time and effort preparing the lesson. They managed to simplify difficult scientific concepts in a way that our first grade students could understand. Many of our students were very interested and engaged with these lessons and participated well in the class activities. The seventh and eighth grade students even prepared some gifts to say thank you to the first grade students for being good in their class.

It was a great opportunity for our first-grade students to learn from older members of the SHSID student body, and for our seventh and eighth grade students to experience being a teacher. Hopefully there will be similar lessons and activities in the future.
