Pudong Campus: Open Day

May 24th, the long-anticipated Open Day of Pudong campus finally arrived!

The day was a bit different from the usual. Early in the morning, parents came to the campus delightedly with their kids, attending the half-day event.

As the bell of P&B class rang, parents cheerfully walked into the classrooms along with the students. After receiving the morning greetings from homeroom teachers, they were all set for the first class. For Grade 1, parents and students dove into the wonderland of music and art, while the higher graders started the schedule with English, Science and Chinese classes. Later on, classes of Math, Social Studies and PE throughout the five grades commenced with parent observers. During classes, parents, together with the students, plunged into diversified activities such as lecturing, individual presentations, and group discussions. The entire process got the parents involved in the classwork of their kids. Aside from their daily workload, parents obtained an opportunity to understand their kids’ mindsets and learning habits more closely. As for the students, taking classes with parents was such a unique occasion that they were both nervous and thrilled at the same time!

After the classes, all parents were invited to a meeting presided by Director Ms. Liu. During the meeting, Ms. Zhang Li, assistant to the high school principal, gave a presentation on the curriculum of higher grades and college admission counseling.

The annual Open Day event was well-organized and productive. It improved the connection among students, parents, and teachers. After experiencing the school atmosphere personally with their kids, parents saw that SHSID makes every effort to provide the right environment for students to thrive in.
