At the end of May, the Tenth East China University of Science Technology Model United Nations Conference officially began. Delegates attending this conference came from universities all over the country, including Dong Hua University, East China University of Political Science and Law, University of Colorado Boulder, and many more. At this conference, Shanghai High School International Division received multiple rewards. Over the course of three days of heated debates and drafting resolutions, SHSID was rewarded “Best Delegation”, and three delegates from our team of 7 received individual awards. Lucy Lu from class 8(9), as the delegate of Sweden from the United Nations Framework Convention of Climate Change (UNFCCC), received the award of “Outstanding Delegate”. Hazel Hu from class 8(1), as the delegate of Russia from the same committee, and Haoyang Zhang from class 7(5), as the delegate of Greece from the European Commission (EC), both received the “Honorable Mention” award.
The UNFCCC discussed the topic of “Global Solution in Achieving Carbon Neutrality”. In this committee, the delegates of the United States of America, Sweden, Russia, and Haiti had heated debates and disagreements, setting off the discussion and debate of multiple topics. The topic of the EC was “The Eastern Enlargement of the European Union”. In this committee, the delegate of Greece was highly active and worked together with the delegates of Bulgaria, Croatia, and Cyprus to discuss different topics.
