Grade 7: Field Trip
On Friday May 10th, seventh grade went on a field trip. There were different destinations based on each of the different topics the students focused on for the Project Based Assessment. The students who did their argumentative essay on space exploration went to the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum; the students whose topic was about ocean exploration had a chance to visit the Shanghai Aquarium; and lastly, the students who choose the gender pay gap as their topic went to the Natural History Museum.
The Shanghai Science and Technology Museum contains many aspects of technological progress beyond space advancement. The worksheet that every student had to complete specifically required them to find answers in the astronomical sections of the museum. Students saw rocket prototypes and galleries showing astronaut life in space. There were also many fun activities like the 4-axis spinner that was used to train astronauts.
The Shanghai Aquarium included walkways of fish and clear panels showing sea creatures. The experience was amazing and everyone who went had loads of fun.
The National History Museum allowed the students to develop a further understanding of the history of civilization and how the gender pay gap has slowly and steadily become a smaller problem. They were able to see the long process it took for males and females to sit and learn in the same room together.
The overall trip was amazing and well rounded. We hope everyone enjoyed this event!
