Puxi Grades 1-4: Poetry Slam Competition

May 15, 2019

During weeks 13-15 students participated in a “Poetry Slam” competition. They were given a list of poems from their homeroom teacher and had to select their favorite one. Students memorized the poem and recited it during personal growth class. Students used expression and body language while reciting their poem. It was fantastic seeing classmates encourage each other after each poem. Then, a winner was selected to represent each class in the official “Poetry Slam.”

The second round was held during assembly on May 29th. All the classes were in the audience to cheer on their classmates as they recited their poem in from of judges. Student’s had a blast practicing poetry together! Poetry is focused on expression and at SHSID students excel at expressing themselves in many ways!
