Grade 6:Open Day Activities
May 10this the open day of grade 6. Parents came to school and had classes with their children. The six graders had Chinese, English, math and PE classes in the morning, and the talent show in the afternoon.
The native Chinese students performed their skits to their parents. Everyone enjoyed the show a lot. Then in English class there is an activity of gallery walk where the students can walk around the classroom to examine examples of infographics, so that they can have a better understanding of how to do the Project-based assignment. Through this activity everyone knows how to make their infographics appealing and creative. Math class is fabulous. The teachers brought models of certain solid figures and 3-D nets that are magnetic. The teachers invited the students to stick the nets on to these solid empty solid figures structure. Everyone has so much fun watching the solid figures slowly form and learned how to find the surface area of certain types of solid figures.
The talent show begins at 12:35 PM. There are performances of different kinds of dance such as pop dance, classical dance, Mongolian dance, Latin dance, and the wind band, bamboo flute, musical, etc. The bamboo flute performance “Mission Impossible” gave the audiences deep impression. It told a story about the main character should accomplish the mission to learn how to blow a bamboo flute in two minutes or else the main character’s city would be destroyed. With everyone’s help, their city is saved. The performance is really organized. Everything is very successful and fluent. There is a very interesting video made by a group of students. Everyone worked hard to perform.
It was a wonderful open day and wish the open day next year will be more successful!
