College Info Session (XI) – The University of Chicago
On May 9th, SHSID was honored to hold the University of Chicago information session presented by Ms. Trimpe: the finale of her packed one-day Shanghai tour. A crowd of more than 300 parents and students from across Shanghai gathered to hear the insightful information and stories about UChicago that Ms. Trimpe had to offer. Ms. Trimpe covered a wide range of topics, all of which parents and students considering application to UChicago would want to know. Audience members heard a valuable first-hand account on life at UChicago’s campus, in Chicago, and as an international student abroad in general. Ms. Trimpe also covered the details of UChicago’s rigorous yet stimulating academic life, from the curriculum to the style of education. Her descriptions of the opportunities, activities, and global engagement students at the University of Chicago have were not to be missed. She even offered humorous anecdotes. Ms. Trimpe then addressed the portion of the session people were most interested in: UChicago’s application process. Ms. Trimpe offered a detailed and substantive explanation of the application procedures and requirements, as well as what the university is looking for in its students. A rigorous round of Q&A followed shortly after, with many valuable questions asked that made the session even more valuable. Finally, the UChicago session with Ms. Trimpe came to an end with a heartfelt round of applause. Eager students left the session with new insight on life at UChicago and how to become one of its outstanding students in the future.
