Grades 9-10: Swimming Competition
Student swimmers and spectators gathered in the indoor swimming pool to enjoy a friendly SHSID swimming competition on Friday, April 25th. Students competed in 50m freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly competitions.

The cheering crowd of students watched from one side of the pool as contestants from 9th and 10th grade gathered on the other side to warm up and listen to the music, inspiration, and coaching. Even before the competition began, the excited audience of students and teachers were already buzzing with enthusiasm for their classes and friends.

Once the competition began, the contestants eagerly waited for their names to be called to their respective lanes. Upon hearing the signal, the students leaped into the pool, splashing their way to the other side. The spectators cheered even louder than before, almost covering the sound of the rapid splashes of water as the participants dashed through. At the end of each round, the contestants quickly rose out of the water for a large gasp of air and looked to the audience in triumph and pride.

The last event of the day was the relay races, and the viewers watched in anticipation as they tracked the progress of each lane for the leading swimmer. Every team had one swimmer use one of the four different swimming strokes to cross the lane, the lead switched between the teams throughout the race in a tense and close race.

We are very happy to have seen all the contestants participate in an impressive display of athleticism and sportsmanship.
