USAD, or United States Academic Decathlon, is one of the supreme academic competition platforms in the U.S. Its vision is to provide all students with the opportunity to demonstrate their academic excellence through team competition. Students who take part in this competition need to learn and compete in 10 different subjects: math, economics, science, social science, art, music, literature, essay, speech, and interview.

This is the fourth time that SHSID students participated in this competition. This year, they achieved the best score in our school’s history! The team won 48 medals in total, which is double what SHSID brought home last year, including 22 gold medals, 10 silver medals and 16 bronze medals. The team’s overall score ranked 1st in Division II and 4th among all the US and international teams.

Our students matched their team success with individual achievements. Tianyu from class 10(5), Calvin from 9(10), and Brandon from 9(10) won Gold Medals in Overall Individual competition, and Kaiqing from 10(10) and Mason from 10(1) earned silver medals.

Congratulations to these students! For them, competing in the USAD was not only an unforgettable experience, but also an inspiration that encouraged growth and improvement. We are so proud of them!
