Renewed Dow Chemical and SHSID Corporation Contract and Chemistry Lab Visit

On the afternoon of April 23rd, Shanghai High School International Division and Dow Chemical renewed their corporation contract after a few years of close interactions and the establishment of a long-term cooperative relationship. Mr. Yao Weiguang, the CTO of Dow Chemical Asia Pacific, led six leaders of the company to attend the contract-signing ceremony. Witnessed by leaders and representatives from both parties, Mr. Ma Feng, principal of SHSID High School, and Mr. Yao exchanged opinions on future project cooperation, job shadow day, and curriculum development, and finally renewed the cooperation contract. The leaders of Dow Chemical also included CIO Ms. Zhu, Medical Director Mr. Bao, Audit Director Mr. Wu, Chief Scientist Mr. Chen, and R&D Operations Manager Ms. Yang; 9-10 Grade School Director Ms. Liu, chemistry team leader Mr. Sun, STEM coordinator Mr. Liao and Ms. Chen, and TA Ms. Zeng also attended the ceremony as SHSID representatives.

During the ceremony, Principal Ma gave a warm welcome and expressed gratitude to the leaders of Dow Chemical for visiting and renewing their cooperation agreement with SHSID. Principal Ma first introduced the high school curriculum, emphasizing the STEM curriculum and the additional efforts SHSID has made in STEM education, such as PBL and the upcoming science-enhanced Beyond Course. At the end of his speech, President Ma specifically mentioned that our school aims to cultivate future talents who can solve real-world problems. We are grateful to Dow Chemical for its strong support and cooperative platform for our STEM activities. To expand the scientific vision of outstanding high school students and improve scientific literacy, Mr. Yao of Dow Chemical commented highly on the school's philosophy and discussed Dow's corporate culture, innovation and research achievements, and enhanced corporate responsibility for society in detail. Mr. Yao has put forward higher expectations and prospects for the cooperation between Dow Chemical and our school. He also hopes that future cooperation will attract more outstanding high school students to do scientific research by participating in related projects that the company is operating.

After the ceremony, accompanied by Mr. Sun, Mr. Yao and other leaders from Dow Chemical visited SHSID’s chemistry laboratory and discussed the chemistry curriculum and instruments used at our school more in-depth. Both parties indicated that in the future, according to the cooperation contract, they will pursue more cooperation opportunities and build a better platform to explore new directions for science education and curriculum development.
