Grade 10 Assembly: SHSID Student-Athlete Experience
This week, Eddie Lee from 10(10) spoke in front of his peers at our weekly assembly about the personal growth he has seen within himself due to his involvement in SHSID’s soccer program and through his interactions with his teammates.

Eddie began with a brief introduction to the rules and intricacies of the sport he loves so much. He continued by confessing to the audience of his classmates that he was not very good when he began in middle school, playing as a bench player on the B team. Through religious practice and close guidance from his coaches, he has improved in competitions and played important roles in many tournaments. His hard work payed off when he was selected for the varsity team in high school. Eddie thanked his teammates for supporting each other through some tough losses and for raising each other up after glorious victories. Eddie emphasized the importance of developing strong time management skills to handle the increased workload of the being in 10th grade as well as the challenges of a diverse social life.

Eddie’s speech served as a heart-warming reminder to his classmates about how diverse and lively an SHSID student’s life can be. The lesson of focusing on the process of personal growth, comradeship, and a positive spirit rather than on trivial wins or losses is an important one both on the soccer pitch and in the classroom.
