Middle School Geography Department: Cultural Bazaar Speech
During the afternoons of April 1st and April 2nd, eight 7th graders presented their history and culture speeches in front of both teachers and students. The cultural bazaar event was different from other events as it featured the visual arts, food, and clothing of cultures from different countries. In their history speeches, the eight speakers each talked about problems their countries are facing right now, and how to find solutions for those issues.
Some environmental topics included severe pollution in Italy, solutions to climate change in the Maldives, and even about how avocados affect Mexico’s environment by deforestation and water pollution.
There is also a variety of social problems that different nations are currently facing, including the overworked labor force in Japan, the independence movement in Catalonia, the impacts that Neo-Nazism still has on Germany, and Mexico’s emerging health problems from eating junk food and exercising less.
In all, the speakers did a great job. Through these speeches, students learned more about the problems different nations are facing and how to prevent them from continuing. Students were informed about the global issues happening around us and how to help make the world a better place.
